Boom, Admirals Inn and Gunpowder Suites by Luxury Locations Antigua

So today we’re at Boom in English Harbour we’re gonna have a little look around and have a fantastic lunch. We arrived at Boom by car, however it is
possible to arrive by boat via Admirals Inn which is just across the water. Boom
is so named due to the gunpowder magazine that dominates your view at the
end of the sweeping driveway. Boom, also known as the Gunpowder Suites, as
well as Admirals in across the water are historic buildings dating from the 18th
century in a secluded section of Nelson’s Dockyard in English Harbour on
the south coast of Antigua. Our plan was to have a quick look around the
Gunpowder magazine which is now converted to suites and then have some
lunch by the pool. The suites in the gunpowder magazine were surprisingly
spacious and airy with balconies overlooking the pool and over to the
Historic Dockyard. Located in a secluded area in the
grounds there are additional new suites which are not part of the historic
buildings, these new waterfront cottages are perfect for a quiet tranquil holiday. Just before lunch we decided to take a
quick trip over to Admirals Inn by boat to see Nelson’s Dockyard The main building was completed in 1788
four years after Nelson arrived in Antigua. The building was used for storage of
pitch, lead and turpentine, the upper floor was used as offices for the engineers of
the dockyard. The pillars that can be seen, used to be
the supports for a large boathouse with a sail loft above. The rounded caps were
added after the boat house was destroyed, so as to prevent erosion to the
remaining pillars. It’s such a great property, I really
enjoyed having a look at the rooms and the pool, and the beach, and the old dock
yard. Yeah it’s beautiful. Cheers! So what’s your favorite part? I think I like
the Boom area just I suppose because we have kids. Yeah. I can definitely see us
renting one of the private rooms and then coming here for breakfast, lunch and
dinner and having them by the pool so that’d be nice. Yeah, it’s very
secluded over here. Yeah I think over there if we were on our own, because then
we could walk around the dock yard and go to the some of the bars and
restaurants in the evening and I think it’d be quite lively and sailing week
and in the season so yeah. Yeah some proper parties. Absolutely, yeah so
probably this side for us with kids. Yeah, yeah and with the pool definitely.
I really like this. Good afternoon So what we have here, we have the Thai shrimp cake salad salad, this is the veggie spring rolls, And this is a very good dish, its the fried calimari. It looks amazing thank you. It looks amazing thank you. These are our grilled tiger prawns, and this here is the tomato gazpacho. Enjoy! Thank you very much.
